Orthodontics – Invisalign in Mill Woods, Southeast Edmonton
Invisalign is used by over 3,000,000 patients worldwide to get a beautiful straight smile. Invisalign clear aligners are comfortable, discrete and effective.
Invisalign is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces, using a series of clear aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. It is a popular straightening method due to how comfortable, convenient, and invisible the whole process is for patients.
Clear, custom-made aligners will be created to follow your treatment plan. You will be required to wear the aligners throughout the day, only removing them to eat, brush or floss. While the actual time frame may vary slightly, you will change your aligner trays to a new tray every two weeks. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move- little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to their final prescribed position. You’ll visit our dental office about once every two to six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
Invisalign treatment starts with a thorough consultation with our orthodontics on staff to determine your suitability for Invisalign treatment. Once your suitability is confirmed, a custom treatment plan will be created for you. Your dentist will take pictures, x-rays, and impressions of your teeth to create a perfect 3D model of your teeth. Specialized computer software will be used to map out a series of incremental stages from your current teeth to your beautiful new smile.
The model is sent to the manufactures. A number of progressive aligners will be manufactured – about one aligner for every two weeks of treatment. For optimal results, you’ll need to wear the aligners for 20 – 22 hours per day. You’ll be able to remove the aligners whenever necessary to allow you to eat and clean your teeth just as you did before.
Treatment length varies depending on the amount of movement required. Total treatment time averages 9 – 15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case. Once treatment is complete, your dentist will advise you on aftercare. A retainer will be required to keep your new smile in perfect shape.
